K & R wanted to have an intimate, laid back, romantic wedding ceremony, outside in Edmonton and when it came to venue, the decision was to have a Mill Creek Wedding. Mill Creek Ravine in the heart of Edmonton’s river valley, is one of the most beautiful spots in the city. You are so deep into the ravine that you feel like you are truly out of the city. A clearing served as the perfect location for K & R’s outdoor wedding ceremony. They had an emotional vow exchange, immediately followed by a champagne reception – the absolutely perfect way to celebrate their marriage!
Conveniently, we were then able to use the ravine for the majority of their wedding photos! Even after over a decade of photographing weddings in Edmonton I still find new spots to shoot, and ways to shoot in places I’ve already been! I do have some favourite spots, but I challenge myself to use them differently whenever I go back. It’s a way to constantly challenge my creativity and make sure I’m always looking at things with a different perspective.
One of the ways that I often help my couples is by helping them choose locations for their photos. I feel so honoured when a one of my couples puts some of that responsibility in my hands because then I know that they really do trust my judgement to create beautiful portraits for them. In Kristine & Raymond’s case I happened to recommend their ceremony site as well! I grew up exploring Mill Creek Ravine, and knew a spot that was open yet still private, and easily accessible. It was perfect for them!
