I think candid family photos are my favourite, especially with kids. It’s a great way to look back at their personalities at the time. Every child has their own unique way, that wrinkle they get in their nose when they really laugh, or that particular way they stand. Family photos don’t need to be perfect, but I think they’re best when they’re real. Often when I photograph headshots, I notice that people have a ‘photo smile’. You know, that smile that you freeze on your face when someone is taking your photo. But sometimes that smile is missing life! It’s the real, true, honest moments that really showcase a family, and makes your family different than everyone else. Some of the outtakes from this session are my absolute favourite. These kids were a riot!
